Currently September {a little late}

I can't believe it's already September.  The first couple weeks of school always fly by and are jam packed!  I'm still trying to get into the swing of things and get to know my 22 new fourth graders.  Starting at a new county, school, and grade definitely have been keeping me busy.  I am LOVING finally having air conditioning in my classroom.  Makes a big difference!

I know I'm a little late, but I am linking up with Oh' Boy 4th Grade for Currently September.  Be sure to check out this fun linky!

Math Freebie and Currently August

Adding and Subtracting Money using a Menu

This activity is one of my best sellers and also a student FAVORITE!  I created a menu that I glued on to construction paper and laminated. I used them every year. The document is 9 pages and includes the menu and worksheets for adding and subtracting money. Students pretend they are a waiter or waitress and take orders from each other in order to add and subtract money.

August Already??

Wow, how is it already August?  I am a few days late with linking up with Currently, but I've been super busy.  As I mentioned before, I am switching counties and starting at a new school teaching 4th grade.  I am very excited about the change, but anxious as well.  I also just moved this week.  So regardless to say, I've been extremely busy.

Don't forget to link up with Farley's Currently for August.

Back to School {Linky}

I am linking up with I {Heart} Recess for her Back to School linky.  I love making goals or myself, both professionally and personally.  Here are my 2013-2014 goals:

Personal: I always feel so much better after a good workout.  I want to make it a priority every night to go to the gym and break a sweat.

Organization: I love labels.  Everything needs its place and a label to go with it.  This is a goal I would like to continue this school year.

Planning: I am starting a new grade in a new county, so everything is new this year.  I am excited for a change, but change is also scary.  We have a lot of planning time put in to our schedule so this will definitely help.  We have to stay a week ahead with our lesson plans, so I'd like to stay two weeks ahead.

Professional: Last year I implemented Daily 5 for reading.  It was hard to get used to, but it was definitely worth it.  This year I am doing the same for math, so I am anxious to see how it goes.

Students: This year I want to help my students set realistic monthly goals.  I'd also like to find a way for them to chart or keep track of the growth that they make.

Motto: Take it a day at a time.  I always try to plan so far in advance and think about what's next.  I need to slow down and enjoy what I'm doing at the time.

Check out her blog to join this fun linky.  What are your goals for this school year?

Pinterest Linky

I love linky parties and found another great one!  I am linking up with Diving Into Learning for her linky,  "Time Spent on Pinterest Should Equal Professional Development Hours."  Below are some of my new favorite finds on Pinterest.  Check out my Pinterest page to see my other boards and pins.

Comma People

I love incorporating art projects with my instruction.  This is a cute lesson where students give four examples of using commas and create a comma person!

Reading Group Crates

These cushion seats come off to reveal white board, etc. storage!  I would love to make these for my classroom.

Fun Free Fonts

I love fonts!  This link provides 20 fun free fonts.  These are great for worksheets or to dress up your classroom.

iFont Maker

Speaking of fonts...I'm so excited to share a fun and easy method to create fonts with your own handwriting! I used an app called iFontMaker on the iPad and made my first font in about 30 minutes. :) It was super fun and self-explanatory.
