Word Problem Freebie

Common Core Word Problems FREEBIE

Math word problems are used to gauge students' ability to interpret relevant information and to assess students' ability to use their analytical and mathematics skills to solve problems. They are often used to relate mathematics to real life situations.

This document has five word problems that are perfect for 2nd to 4th grade students. The activity would work great as a center or reinforcement activity for early finishers.  Answer keys are provided.  If you are interesting in purchasing my full product, with 30 word problems, please visit my TpT store.

Math Mania

I love creating fun math games and centers to reinforce the skills we are working on in class.  Especially with state testing coming up, it is a great way to review past skills and concepts.  Here are a few of my favorites.  Click on the link to purchase these items from my Teachers Pay Teachers store.

Decimal Mix and Match Game- $2.00

This seven page document covers the place value skill with decimals. Students will match up the standard form, expanded form, and word form. Place value goes to the hundredths place.

Comparing Fractions Game- $2.00

This is a fun game for students to play to the skill of comparing fractions.  Students will each choose one card and whoever has the highest fraction keeps the cards.  They will keep playing until all of the cards are gone.

Long Division Activity- $2.00

This 9 page activity works on students' long division skills. They will choose one of the numbers on the leaf. This will be the dividend. Then choose one of the single digit numbers as your divisor. A paper is provided for them to write the problem and the answer. Remainders are included in these problems. The cute Hawaii theme will engage students.

Adding and Subtracting Fractions with Like Denominators

This is a free 8 page game on adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators.  There are fraction problems and pictures of fractions included.

Happy Hump Day

Happy Hump Day! Well, we’re more than half way through this week. I hope your week is flying by as fast as mine. Every year seems to go by faster than the previous year. I can't believe we are already into January and almost half way through the year.

This year I started implementing the Daily 5 in my classroom. The hardest aspect that I have found is finding meaningful work for students to complete at their seats. I created journal prompts that students can use for any story or novel they are reading. This really cuts down on the "busy work" and allows my students to be show their understanding through a creative outlet.

This 19 page resource contains 36 different writing prompts for higher level thinking. These can be used in isolation with certain skills or even as a center. My students look forward to their journaling rotation with the use of these prompts. Head over to my TpT store to grab this item while it is on sale!
