First Annual Holiday Cookie Swap Linky Party

I am excited to be linking up with Emily from the Reading Tutor/OG for this recipe linky party.  I am sharing my grandma's peanut butter balls that she made for every holiday. After she passed away, I kept the tradition going and love making this easy no-bake treat.  Check out the linky for other delicious recipes.

Below is her original handwritten recipe :)

November {currently}

Well, November just snuck right up on us.  I feel like the school year just started!  I'm linking up with Farley at Oh' Boy Fourth Grade for November's Currently.

Listening to Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.  I love this show...right up my Reality TV alley.

Loving that extra hour.  The extra hour does so much for me.  I'll miss it being daylight when I get home, but I hate leaving for work in the dark!

Thinking about how busy November is going to be.  Conferences, American Education Week, and a new marking period.  I'm sure it will fly by just like October did!

Wanting to create some new TpT products.  I LOVE creating and designing new projects and activities. This year has just been so crazy that I haven't had a lot of time to concentrate on my TpT products.  Must make time for this!!!

Needing to get ready for all of my conferences.  I like to spread them out over a couple weeks so that I don't have to cram them all in on Conference Day.  It helps me to concentrate on each individual student instead of having 21 conferences back to back.  How do you do your conferences?

A Yummy Pin- Reese's Peanut Butter Banana Bread.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Banana Bread

Ingredients
  • 3 very ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup Canola or Vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 8 oz bag of Reese’s Mini cups

How to Make
  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Grease your loaf pan (I used an 8 x 4 pan) with butter or shortening.
  3. In a medium bowl whisk together your flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt, set aside.
  4. In a large bowl stir together your bananas, peanut butter, oil, egg and sugars.
  5. Pour your dry ingredients into your wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Batter will be lumpy. DO NOT OVER-STIR.
  6. Fold in your Reese’s Mini cups and spread batter into prepared pan.
  7. Bake for approx 1 hour or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
  8. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then loosen the edges of the pan with a knife and remove from loaf pan, transferring bread to a cooling rack.
Notes
  • I bake my breads in a stone loaf pan, but certainly you don’t have to. BUT if you notice the bread browning too fast, lower the temperature down to 325° and loosely tent it with foil.
  • Also, some readers have noticed that if you over-stir the batter the texture will be crumbly, so make sure not to over-stir!

Maniac Monday Freebie

Maniac Monday Freebie

Classroom Freebies Manic Monday
I am linking up with Classroom Freebies for Maniac Monday.  My freebie this week is a Word Problem pack.  Math word problems are used to gauge students' ability to interpret relevant information and to assess students' ability to use their analytical and mathematics skills to solve problems. They are often used to relate mathematics to real life situations.

This document has five word problems that are perfect for 2nd to 4th grade students. The activity would work great as a center or reinforcement activity for early finishers.  Answer keys are provided.  If you are interesting in purchasing my full product, with 30 word problems, please visit my TpT store.

Classroom Happenings

It's been a long time since I've written an actual post.  Teaching in a new school district and a new grade has been very overwhelming.  I love my new school and class, but it is like starting over as a first year teacher.  Here are some picture updates from my class.

I am so lucky to have a class set of laptops in my classroom.  I love using the laptops as a center for my reading and math rotations.  I recently discovered LiveBinders and have been obsessed with it since.  Its a great way to put all of your technology resources and websites for your students in one place.

They’re basically virtual three ring binders where you can organize all of your websites, documents, movies, and images into tabs and subtabs and then share your “stuff” on the web. Click on the binders below to see some of my examples:

Here are some other ways to use LiveBinder in your classroom:
  • Class Resources– Use LiveBinder to share your resources.
  • Create a Presentation– Use LiveBinders to present your information.  Don’t make handouts, share the link to your binder and embed it in your blog.
  • Have your students collaborate on a Binder as a final product of a unit
  • Use a LiveBinder to demonstrate the writing process – create a tab for each draft/activity

But the best place to find ideas on how to use LiveBinders is to browse the featured binders on their website.
