Monday Made It- Crate Seats

After seeing these all over Pinterest, I finally decided to make crate seats.  They weren't very hard to make and turned out amazing!  I am linking up with Monday Made It to share this fun craft.

What you need:
  • plastic crates
  • fabric
  • 1" thick foam
  • plywood
  • spray adhesive
  • staple gun

Steps:
  1. Measure the length and width of your crates so you know how your plywood needs to be cut. I just took my crate into Home Depot with me and had them measure it.
  2. Lay your plywood on top of the mattress pad and trace as many as you need.
  3. Cut out your fabric making sure to leave enough around the edges to fold over the seat.
  4. Use spray adhesive to glue your foam pieces down on the plywood.
  5. Pull the fabric around and staple it to the plywood.  I did it like we were wrapping a present.
  6. Set the board onto the crate and plan what you're going to put inside.

  3. Found your blog through the MD blogger link up and MMI link party :) Lovin' the chevron crates. I did that project last year. Chevron is so in this season. I decided on an animal/jungle theme last year so I'm kinda stuck with it for a few years lol. And your labels freebie is great!! Thanks so much ~Cara Lee

    1. Thanks Cara. Do the crates last through the years? Hoping I don't have any that break.

  10. Hi! I LOVE your labels! I was wondering if you have them in Spanish? If not, is there anyway you could send me the editable version so I can translate them? Thanks!

  12. I LOVE your crate seats. I have been searching online to find directions for these seats that actually make sense and aren't extremely expensive. I was originally going to make these using buckets, but the crates are so much more useful within the classroom, plus I think they are a little safer. I am wondering... did the seats hold up okay? My only concern with this is that the plastic crates will not be strong enough for my second grade kiddos.

I'm loving your blog! Have a great school year. :)

    1. Hi Danielle. Sorry about the late reply, I just saw your message. I ended up switching from third to fourth grade, so I thought my kids were a little too big for them. I used them as storage and they looked great!

  13. Hi! I ABSOLUTELY love your labels, they were just my first real go ahead for next year as I just laminated and cut them all out. I was wondering though if you have an editable version for a few words that I was hoping to also have as labels?

    Great blog! :)
